The crusade against triple talaq is escalating to new level with each passing day. More than a million Muslims across India, mostly women, have signed petition to discontinue the divorce practice of triple talaq.

The petition was launched by the Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM), an Islamic organization affiliated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), reports CNN.

It was said in the reports that the petition is also having connections with the Bhartiya Janata Party’s recent major victory in Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.

Women participated in large numbers for signing of petition against triple talaq.

However, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has defended the triple talaq practice, saying it is better to divorce a woman than kill her.
