Suraj Pal Amu, Haryana's BJP Chief Media Coordinator has in subtle yet direct words equated West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to Shurpnakha (Ravana’s sister) and also issued a veiled threat to her for supporting Padmavati.
“Shurpnakha was a woman with characteristics of the devil and Lakshman taught her a lesson by chopping off her nose. Mamata Ji should not forget this,” said Amu.
Amu had earlier ridiculed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia over the controversy surrounding Padmavati.
He had also congratulated a Meerut based youth for announcing Rs 5 crore bounty for beheading Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
“We will reward the ones beheading them, with Rs 10 crore, and also take care of their family's needs,” Amu had said.
He also said he will quit BJP if needed, asking PM Modi to exercise his powers to strike down the film.
He said that the BJP and PM Modi use the Rajput community for votes and to assault Muslims during riots but now they are silent over the issue of Padmavati.
He had also threatened actor Ranveer Singh, who plays the role of Alauddin Khilji in Padmavati, saying that he will break Ranveer’s legs.
A day after National Commission for Women (NCW) directed Haryana Police to investigate Amu’s bounty offer to behead Padmavati director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Deepika Padukone, Amu issued a threat to torch all cinema houses across the country.
Amu said, “The youth and warrior caste of this country have the strength to set every cinema on fire.”
