The ministry of external affairs on Wednesday said that Pakistan has yet not granted visa to Kulbhushan Jadhav’s mother so the family can personally go to Pakistan to pursue the case.
MEA spokesperson Gopal Bagley said Jadhav’s mother has already applied for visa but it has not been granted, so far.
Bagley said India had made 16 requests for consular access which were denied and they did not know the status of Jadhav’s mother petition.
“We had made 16 requests for consular access which were denied, we don't know status of Kulbhushan Jadhav's mother's petition,” Bagley said while addressing a press conference.
Reacting on International Court of Justice (ICJ) order, the MEA spokesperson said that they were informed by the ICJ that action has been initiated on their application as what provisional measure had been sought by India.
“We were informed by ICJ of the action initiated on our application and provisional measure that we sought,” the MEA spokesperson said.
On Tuesday, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in Hague asked the government of Pakistan to put his execution on hold who was facing death sentence on charges of “spying”.
Union external affairs Sushma Swaraj corroborated the information on Twitter, and informed that she had spoken to Jadhav’s mother about the development.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said, "I have spoken to the mother of Kulbhushan Jadhav and told her about the order of President, ICJ under Art 74 Paragraph 4 of Rules of Court."
