Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board Chairman Syed Waseem Rizvi on Friday filed a petition in the Supreme Court alleging that Pakistan is paying Sunni Waqf Board to file cases against the building of Ram Temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya.
Rizvi said that Pakistan doesn’t want harmony in the country and this is why he is giving funds to Sunni Waqf board.
Rizvi, in his petition, said that a grand temple should be built at believed to be the birth-place of Lord Rama in Ayodhya and a Mosque can be built in Lucknow.
Waseem Rizvi - who formed a new political party, Indian Shia Awami League (ISAL) in 2018 – claimed that Babri Masjid was built by Baqi Tashqandi, also known as Mir Baqi, who was a Shia Muslim and therefore a temple should be built as Shia Muslims are in favour of the construction of the temple.
“I have been told that Mir was Shia Muslims and we support the construction of the temple,” he said in the petition.
He also emphasised that if Muslims want to build a Mosque then they should make it one in Haryana as Babur first came to this state.
“There is not a single place in Ayodhya that is named after Babur, in fact, everything in Ayodhya is named after Ram,” Rizvi said.
Rizvi said that everyone wants communal harmony in the country and Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has given a slogan of ‘sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas’.
