Pakistani troops on Wednesday violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Sabjiya Sector of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, reports said. The firing took place around 5:55 PM on Wednesday and stopped after 6PM, sources said.
The report of ceasefire violation from Pakistani side comes amid escalating tensions between India and Islamabad following the Uri terror attacks that had killed 18 army soldiers.
After Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif criticised India during his address at the UNGA, India had hit back at him on the same platform, saying the country ‘sponsors terrorism’.
India is also mulling to opt out of the Indus Waters Treaty in the backdrop of the Uri attacks, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedly said that “blood and water cannot flow together.”
In a blow to Pakistan, India on Tuesday announced its decision to not to participate in the Islamabad SAARC summit. After India’s decision, three other nations – Bangladesh, Bhutan and Afghanistan – too decided to boycott the SAARC Summit.
