New Delhi:

Hours after Indian Air Force (IAF) reportedly destroyed the Pakistan-based terror camps across Line of Control (LoC), sources said that a Pakistan drone has been shot down on Kutch border on Tuesday at 6.30am. It is not known yet whether the drone takedown was part of India's pre-dawn airstrike.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Police has issued high-alert in the state saying the administration has increased security at important establishments.

Earlier, Indian Air Force reportedly crossed the Line of Control and destroyed Balakot, Chakothi and Muzaffarabad terror launch pads. "Balakot, Chakothi and Muzaffarabad terror launch pads across the LOC completely were destroyed in IAF air strikes. JeM control rooms also destroyed," tweeted ANI.

More than 10 bombs were reportedly dropped by the multi-role fighter jet Mirage 2000 at around 3:30 am on Tuesday morning. The entire operation continued for 21 minutes, says a report. Defence experts say that Mirages would have used 500 kg laser-guided bombs.

The aerial attack comes days after Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held a high-level meeting with all three service chiefs.

Defence experts say that Mirages would have used 500 kg laser-guided bombs. The Mirage 2000s may have used Israeli lightening laser designator pods to drop their precision bombs. Though Pakistan has tweeted the photos of large craters, the actual impact of the airstrike will be revealed by the satellite images.

The extent of the damage inflicted on the ground is not immediately known but the sources claimed the Pakistani side sustained significant losses.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was briefed by Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on the operation. Hours later, he chaired a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Security which was attended by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Sitharaman.
