A Pakistani cleric allegedly killed a eight-year-old boy — who tried to run away from a religious seminary in Karachi, police said on Monday.
Pakistan Police have identified the arrested cleric as Qari Najmuddin and the deceased as Muhammad Hussain.
According to police, the boy died due to brutal beating by Najmuddin. “The boy was beaten by a stick and a blunt object. Torture marks are visible on the boy’s body,” Pakistani Police said.
Police further added that Hussain was given corporal punishment by the cleric for escaping classes in the past too.
“The minor had managed to escape the seminary last week and brought back on Sunday by his parents. Najmuddin as corporal punishment beat the student with stick and other blunt objects,” said Karachi Police.
