Paradise Papers leak: Indian names to be investigated by Multi Agency Group

Central Board of Direct Taxes says the Government has directed that investigations in cases of Paradise Papers will be monitored through a reconstituted Multi Agency Group. 

The reconstituted Multi Agency Group will be headed by the CBDT Chairman and have representatives from CBDT, ED, RBI and FIU.  

Revelations made on Monday in media under Paradise Papers indicate out of 180 countries represented in data of offshore entities held by persons of different nationalities, India ranks 19th in terms of the number of names.

714 Indians reportedly appear in tally says CBDT.

The findings have emerged as part of the Paradise Papers released by the US-based International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), which was behind the Panama Papers made public in 2016.
