After the exit polls predicted BJP’s victory in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, leaving behind his foes of GST and demonetisation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be a little more confident man when he walks into the house on Friday for the opening day of Parliament’s winter session.
Another reason for PM Modi to cherish would be his ‘partner’ and BJP’s ‘Chanakya’ Amit Shah, who will begin his new innings as a Rajya Sabha MP.
However, Modi is likely to face the heat of the Opposition parties for his “outrageous” remark against former PM Manmohan Singh during the campaigning for high stake Gujarat elections.
Modi had alleged that Congress party was colluding with Pakistan for winning the Gujarat polls and a “secret meeting” was held at Mani Shankar Aiyar’s home where Manmohan Singh was also present.
While Manmohan Singh demanded an apology from PM Modi, Congress leader Anand Sharma had threatened to raise the issue during the winter session.
The winter session will also be the first for Rahul Gandhi as Congress President.
