BJP MP Parvesh Verma, who has created controversy with his remarks over anti-CAA protest at Shaheen Bagh in Delhi, claimed to have received a threat from an unknown caller. Verma, who is an MP from the West Delhi, posted on Twitter a screenshot of the phone call that he received at 8.11 am on Wednesday. He said he will lodge a police complaint in this regard. The screenshot purportedly shows a call that originated in Rwanda.

 

Parvesh Verma has triggered a row with his controversial remarks on those protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) at Shaheen Bagh in Delhi.

In an interview to news agency ANI on Tuesday, the BJP MP said, "Lakhs of people gather there. People of Delhi will have to think and take a decision. They will enter your houses, rape your sisters and daughters, kill them."

"There's time today, Modi ji and Amit Shah won't come to save you tomorrow," he had added.

Before that, the Parvesh Verma had also threatened Shaheen Bagh protesters at a rally on Monday. Parvesh Verma said if the BJP is voted to power in Delhi, it will only take an hour to clear off protests in Shaheen Bagh.

"This election is not a small election but that for stability and unity of the country. If a government of the Bharatiya Janata Party is formed on the February 11, then after an hour no one will be seen in Shaheen Bagh," the West Delhi BJP MP had said.

Verma had also said that mosques and graveyards have come up in over 500 government properties in the Capital, including hospitals and schools. He said the land where these "illegal structures" have come up belong to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Delhi Jal Board and many other government agencies.

The office of Delhi Election Commission said the Chief Election Officer of Delhi has submitted its report to the Election Commission of India on the suspected violation of model code of conduct by Parvesh Verma.
