New Delhi:

A passenger on board a Bengaluru-bound IndiGo plane has been arrested for allegedly molesting a female flight attendant before the flight departure from the Mumbai airport, a police official said Thursday.

The incident took place on Tuesday. Twenty-year-old Raju Gangappa allegedly pressed the back of a flight attendant while he was passing by her. When she chided him, he abused her, the official said, according to a PTI report.

The passenger, a resident from Bengaluru, was offloaded with his baggage after the flight attendant informed her seniors about the incident. And he was handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials and later taken into custody by the airport police, the official said.

Gangappa has been arrested under IPC section 354 (assault or criminal force on woman with an intent to outrage her modesty), he said.

The molester was produced in a Mumbai court on Wednesday and a probe was underway in the case, the official said. IndiGo, however, did not respond to a query on the issue, PTI said.
