The Government Railway Police detained six suspicious people from Jammu and Kashmir, who were travelling by the Pooja Express headed towards Rajsthan through Delhi, at the Pathankot railway station late on Sunday night. The detention of six individuals comes two days after four suspected 'terrorists' were spotted in Pathankot's Saidipur village on Friday night, prompting the state police to launch a massive search operation.

On Friday, residents of Saidipur village claimed to have spotted suspicious movement of around four people, suspected to be 'terrorists.' The police had also recovered an abandoned white Alto car, which was found around 25 km away from Pathankot, near Bamiyal area. The car was also spotted by the villagers, according to news agency ANI.

On Saturday, Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Suresh Arora said that the owner of the abandoned car which was used by suspected 'terrorists' was from Jammu. "The car owner has been traced. The person hails from Jammu," he had told media persons.

After the 2016 terror attack, Pathankot and its adjoining areas continue to be under a strict vigil. Security agencies have also been on alert after four people, travelling in a hired SUV from Jammu, had snatched the vehicle from its driver at gunpoint near Madhopur area on November 13.
