The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) general secretary Ram Madhav on Thursday said that the proposed coalition in Jammu and Kashmir was probably based on instructions from across the border. Ram Madhav also accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the National Conference (NC) of boycotting the urban local body polls on Pakistan's directives, according to the news agency ANI. “What they did prompted the Governor to look into the whole issue,” he accused.

“Only Governor can answer why his fax was not working. But this is lame excuse on the part of Madam Mehbooba. She never claimed that she will form the govt, she said that she will see the Governor and stake the claim. It was all a drama,” he said.

Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik dissolved the state Assembly barely minutes after former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti confirmed the grand alliance with arch rivals the National Conference (NC) and the Congress. “By virtue of the powers vested upon me in terms of Proclamation No: P-1/18 of 2018 dated: 20th June 2018 issued under sub-section (1) of Section 92 and in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by Clause (b) of sub-section (2) of Section-53 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir, I hereby dissolve the Legislative Assembly,” order by the Governor reads.

On Wednesday, senior Jammu BJP leader Kovinder Gupta who was the deputy chief minister in the Mehbooba Mufti lead government had alleged that this budding alliance was being formed in behest of Pakistan.

Jammu and Kashmir has been under Governor's rule from the past few months which cannot be extended after it completes its six months on December 19. The unprecedented move came a day after senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig threw his weight behind BJP ally Sajad Lone on Tuesday. The previous government headed by the Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti fell when its partner BJP pulled out of the ruling coalition on June 16.
