A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) worker was shot at by unknown gunmen in Mitrigam village of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district late Monday evening. The PDP member, identified as Lateef Ahmad Shah, is a resident of Mitrigam Village and was attacked by the miscreants while working in his orchard.
Shah has been shot in his leg, sources said, adding that he is admitted to the Pulwama district hospital and undergoing treatment. Soon after the incident, government forces have rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area to nab the assailants.
Meanwhile, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti condemned the attack on Shah and also prayed for his "speedy recovery".

"Attacking political workers who dedicate their lives to the cause of serving common masses is an unfortunate act. We condemn in strongest possible terms attack on our senior worker Lateef Ah Shah from Mitrigam, Pulwama. We pray for his speedy recovery," Mufti wrote on Twitter.
