The war of words on social media site Twitter between Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP Kesineni Srinivas Nani and MLC Buddha Venkanna turned ugly after thee former indirectly called his party colleague “pet dog” of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu and virtually threatened to resign from the Lok Sabha.
“Chandra Babu Garu. If you don’t want people like me in the party you can let me know, I will resign as Member of Parliament and also from the party membership. If you want people like me to continue, please control your pet dog,” Kesineni Srinivas tweeted on Monday.
Hours later Venkanna responded saying, “I will always be faithful to N. Chandrababu Naidu who gave MLC seat to me, a person from the Backward Classes. I will accept any name you give to my faith in him. For Mr. Chandrababu Naidu and the party I am stopping this twitter war now.”
Venkanna, who is reportedly close to TDP chief Naidu, and Srinivas have been involved in a war of words on the social media for over a week.
According to the TDP MLC, Srinivas used one number plate for several vehicles and had supposedly "taken over former Speaker GMC Balayogi's money and property."
Srinivas mocked Venkanna saying that “someone who can't speak four sentences is now tweeting".
Srinivas’s threat to resign did not go well with Twitter users and TDP followers. Some accused him of deliberately finding an excuse to quit the party.
Reports suggest Srinivas may join the BJP as he had visited Nagpur to meet Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, less than week after the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
Sriniva has denied the speculations saying he was "as likely to join the BJP as Naidu was likely to join the YSR Congress" of Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The Telugu Desam Party won only 23 seats in the 175-seat state assembly and just three out the 25 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh.
