Petrol prices surges to Rs 82.03, diesel to Rs 73.82 in Delhi

New Delhi:

With yet another surge in petrol and diesel prices on Monday, there seems to be no respite for consumers anytime soon. In Delhi, petrol prices stood at Rs 82.03 per litre which is an increase of Rs 0.21. While diesel prices were hiked by Rs 0.29 taking it to Rs 73.82. In Mumbai, the petrol and diesel prices were pegged at Rs 87.50 (an increase of Rs 0.21) and Rs 77.37 (an increase of Rs 0.31), respectively, according to price notification by state-owned oil firms.

Despite the Central government’s decision to cut the Value Added Taxes (VAT) on fuel prices by Rs 2.50 and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled states’ additional relief of Rs 2.50 recently, fuel prices are seeing a steady day-to-day increase and there seems to be no respite in place for consumers in the near future.

“Let me categorically assure all that there is no going back on deregulation of oil prices,” Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said in a Facebook post on Saturday.
