Pink Whale Challenge: A better alternative to deadliest Blue Whale Suicide Challenge.

New Delhi:

The Pink Whale also known as 'Baleia Rosa', is an online challenge that is created as an alternative of the deadliest Blue Whale Challenge. The Pink Whale Challenge ‘encourages positive and generous acts and attempts to bring happiness to the participant’s daily life.’

Started in Brazil in April, the game is already on everyone's mind. The game has created more than 300000 followers on Facebook and 45000 on Instagram. It can be downloaded from Android Play Store and iOS Apple Store.

The Pink Whale is encouraging the users to be happier, and not kill themselves. Instead of cutting into your wrist -- like the Blue Whale does -- the Pink Whale asks you to write on how much you love someone on your skin...with a marker, please.

Describing the project's aim, the administrators of the verified Facebook page Baleia Rosa (Pink Whale in Portuguese) said, “In order to prove that the internet can be used to viralize the good, the Pink Whale was born. We are not a self-help group! We just believe that we are all capable of promoting love and good!”

The Pink Whale was started by a publicist and a graphic designer in the wake of the spread of the Blue Whale challenge. Even the app is completely different from the blue whale challenge as it doesn't ask you to complete tasks and share evidence like in the Blue Whale Challenge.

What is Blue Whale Challenge?

The Blue Whale is an online ‘suicide game’ where the participants are being asked to finish a set of daring challenges over a 50-day period and then they are being told to kill themselves.

According to reports, the game sets challenges initially such as watching horror films, cutting shapes into their skin and finally challenge them to commit suicide.

The users are asked to send photographic evidence back to the creators of the game to complete each challenge. They ask them to send the pictures as proof or they will send threats.

According to reports, the creators of the application-based game prey on vulnerable teens online. They then ask them to download the app and take the challenge. Once the user downloads the game on his/her phone, the phone gets hacked and the users cannot delete them. Hence, the hackers get access to all their details.

The online group which is associated with the Blue Whale is said to have thousands of members and subscribers on Facebook and YouTube.

The game has emerged in countries including Russia, Ukraine, Spain, Portugal, France and the UK. When did the Blue Whale come into notice?

The Blue Whale game first made news after a 15-year-old schoolgirl from Russia named Yulia Konstantinova posted the picture of a blue whale on Instagram shortly before jumping to death.
