Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said both India and Russia were against outside influence in internal matters of any nation. Modi was addressing a joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Modi's remark it seems to be an indirect jab at Pakistan who has been trying to raise the issue of Kashmir at international stage ever since the decision to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir state.
PM Modi also announced a proposal for a maritime route between Chennai and Vladivostok.PM Modi arrived in Russia on Wednesday morning and met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Vladivostok.
“This is a historical occasion to give a new dimension to the cooperation between the two countries,” Modi said in his opening remarks at the 20th India-Russia Annual Summit on the sidelines of the EEF, which Russia has hosted since 2015 to boost partnerships with Asian countries.
Modi said Russia is an “integral friend and trustworthy partner” of India as he praised President Putin’s personal efforts on expanding the special and privileged strategic partnership between the two countries.
“On many occasions, I have spoken to you over telephone to discuss several issues and I have never felt any hesitation,” Prime Minister Modi told Putin.

In a bid to boost the cultural cooperation between India and Russia, the prime minister will release a special stamp to commemorate "father of the nation" Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary. Modi will also inaugurate a mobile App dedicated to popularise Yoga in the country.

Looking forward to meeting President Putin: PM Modi
Before departing for Russia, Modi said he looked forward to discussing regional and international issues of mutual interest with President Putin. Modi also said his visit underlines the desire of the two countries to diversity and further strengthen bilateral relations.
"I look forward to discussing with my friend President Putin the entire gamut of our bilateral partnership as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest," the prime minister said in his departure statement in New Delhi.
"I also look forward to meeting other global leaders attending the Eastern Economic Forum, and interacting with Indian Industry and business representatives participating in it," Modi said.
