PM Modi asks ministers to shun stay at five-star hotels

New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked his ministers to avoid staying in 5-star hotels and benefit from public-sector undertakings attached to their ministries. He also advised them even not to use cars.

It was learned that Modi was not happy with the tendency among his ministers of giving preference to stay in five-star hotels during their visit. During a recently held cabinet meeting, the Prime minister asked the ministers to stay in provided government accommodation rather than to choose a five-star hotel for their stay, sources said.

The prime minister also put his concern of misusing government vehicles of public sector undertaking by the ministers and their families.

It is learned that a few ministers have followed the suggestions made by the prime minister and asked their staff to avoid the PSU’s vehicles for personal use.
