PM Modi asks states to take stern action against cow vigilantes

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday asked all the states to take stern action against cow vigilantes, saying that no one can take law and order into their own hands.

"Some anti-social elements have made 'gauraksha' a medium for spreading anarchy. This is affecting the image of the nation," he said. 

Modi said cow has been regarded as mother and people's emotions are also attached with it. there is law for cow protection, but breaking it not an alternative, he said. 

“ The Prime Minister has asked all states to take stern action against cow vigilantes who are taking law in their hands in the name of cow protection,” said union Parliamentary affairs Ananth Kumar quoting Prime Minister Modi while talking to media.

The Prime Minister comment comes in the wake of reports of lynching from across the nation.

PM Modi also expressed his concern about people who have been affected by floods in the region of North East. 

Kumar said that Prime minister Modi said that the government has started a campaign against corruption and urged all political parties to join it.
