Remembering the ‘noble thoughts of Jesus Christ’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday early morning extended greetings to the nation on the occasion of Christmas.
In a tweet, PM Modi said, "We remember, with immense joy, the noble thoughts of Jesus Christ. He epitomised spirit of service and compassion, devoting his life towards alleviating human suffering." The Prime Minister further stated that the teachings of Christ inspire millions across the world.
It is to be noted that Christmas is being celebrated today with religious fervour and gaiety. Not only Christians, but people belonging to other religions all over the world celebrate Christmas to mark the birth of Jesus Christ. On the occasion, people decorate their houses by putting a Christmas tree, illuminated paper star, Holly wreaths and exchange gifts. People sing carols and exchange gifts as the festival aims to spread the message of peace and prosperity.
On Tuesday, Pope Francis ushered in Christmas celebrations for the world's 1.3 billion Catholics saying the celebration of Jesus's birth reminded humanity how "God continues to love us all, even the worst of us".
Meanwhile, in Bethlehem, pilgrims from around the world gathered in the biblical town, revered by Christians as the birthplace of Jesus. Thousands of Palestinians and foreigners converged on the little town in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, with Christmas Eve festivities taking place in and around the Church of the Nativity.
