In an apparent snub to Imran Khan, no official from the United States government turned up to welcome the Pakistan Prime Minister on his arrival in the country. Only Maleeha Lodi, Pakistan's Representative to the United Nation, and some Pakistani officials turned up to greet Khan on his arrival.
When PM Narendra Modi arrived in Houston on Saturday, he was given a red carpet welcome. PM Modi was received by Christopher Olson, the Director of Trade and International Affairs in Trump adminstration, and other US officials. US Ambassador to India Kenneth Juster and Indian Ambassador to the US Harsh Vardhan Shringla were also present to greet the Indian prime minister.
The difference between the welcome offered to the two prime ministers was not lost on social media users with many tweeted the a comparison.

US President Donald Trump will meet Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on September 23, a day after he joins Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the mega “Howdy Modi” event in Houston. Trump will again hold a meeting with Prime Minister Modi in New York on September 24, a senior official has said.
Both Modi and Khan are scheduled to address the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on September 27. Khan is expected to raise the Kashmir issue at UNGA. Meanwhile, India said that it will soar high if Pakistan stoops low by raking up the Kashmir issue at the UN General Assembly session. India’s top envoy to the United Nations Syed Akbaruddin asserted that Islamabad has been mainstreaming terrorism in the past but “poison pens” don’t work for too long.
