New Delhi:

Weeks after giving ceremonial welcome to Israel’s Prime Minister and “close friend” Benjamin Netanyahu, PM Modi will visit Palestinian territories on Saturday.

India has been an old champion for Palestinian cause but Narendra Modi is the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the Islamic nation.

Modi’s visit to Palestine is being seen as an effort to balance warming ties with Israel as India turned to the Jewish state for high-end military equipment.

Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas terming Modi’s visit as “historic” sought India’s intervention to resolve conflict with Israel.
