New Delhi:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated tax officials meet Rajasva Gyan Sangam, a two-day Annual Conference of Senior Tax Administrators of Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) & Central Board of Excise & Customs (CBEC) in the plenary Hall of Vigyan Bhavan of New Delhi. During the event, PM Modi asked tax officers to move towards digitisation; make tax administration better and efficient. PM Modi also urged to remove fear of harassment from the mind of assesses. Along with Prime Minister Modi, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was also present at the inauguration ceremony.
This is for the first time that an annual conference of the two large departments is being held together. So far two Boards used to hold conferences separately with the chief guest being the Finance Minister.
Here Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will also be interacting with officers of the boards during various sessions today. The top brass of Income Tax department and Customs and Central Excise will participate in the conference.
