Members of Sikh community met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Houston on Sunday and thanked him for taking historic decisions which include the building of Kartarpur corridor. The delegation submitted a memorandum requesting him to address the long-standing issues pertaining to 1984 Sikh Genocides, Article 25 of the Indian Constitution and renewal of passports of asylees and others. One of the delegates of the Sikh community called the prime minister a 'tiger' and said that the Sikhs stands with PM Modi as the community has always stood with India. We're with Modi ji. "We submitted a memorandum and thanked Modiji for what he has done for Sikh community," ANI quotes Avinder Chawla, sitting Commissioner, Arvin, California as saying.
"We thanked him for the Kartarpur corridor. President Trump is coming here tomorrow (at Howdy Modi) and the event demons and the event demonstrates how important a leader PM Modi is, a Sikh delegate added.
Moreover, PM Modi is scheduled to address 'Howdy Modi' event which will also be attended by US President Donald Trump. Prime Minister Modi will fly to New York from Houston, where he is scheduled to meet President Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
The event to be held at the NRG football stadium in Houston is set to be the largest gathering ever for an elected foreign leader visiting the US, other than the Pope.
