Congress attacking the BJP over Rafale fighter jet deal on Friday accused the PM Modi-led government of ‘compromising national security’ and paying more money on the aircraft than Qatar and Egypt.
Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad talking to media on Friday said, “BJP-led government is compromising national security. They are paying more money to buy the jets than Qatar and Egypt.”
He also questioned the intent and motive of the Modi government. “The very purpose of signing an Inter-Governmental Agreement with France was defeated because India is paying more price for the jets than Egypt and Qatar,” added Azad.
The senior Congress leader also questioned, “Is it correct that per aircraft pricing of Rafale as per bid dated 12.12.2012 during UPA-Congress government was Rs 526.1 crore as against present government purchase price of Rs 1,670.70?”
Further attacking the BJP, Azad asked, “Why was prior approval of Cabinet Committee on Security not taken before announcing the purchase of 26 aircrafts on April 10,2015?
Congress president Rahul Gandhi had being terming the Rafale deal as ‘biggest corruption issue of the country.”
