PM Modi to address UGC's Student Leaders Convention on September 11

The University Grant Commission on Thursday informed that Prime Minister will address Student Leaders Convention on theme "Young lndia, New lndia - A Resurgent Nation: from Sankalp to Sidhhi" on September 11.

The commission said it has requested to all vice-chancellors, heads of the higher to provide opportunity and facility to teachers and students to view it.

A couple of days back, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has drafted a new policy for prevention of plagiarism to ensure responsible conduct of research and academic writing.

The draft of "Promotion of Academic Integrity and Prevention of  Plagiarism in Higher Education Institutions Regulations, 2017" seeks to establish institutional mechanism for promotion of academic integrity and develop systems to detect and prevent plagiarism.

"The draft directs every higher education institute to instruct students, faculty, and staff about proper attribution, seeking permission of the author wherever necessary, acknowledgement of source compatible with the needs and specificities of disciplines and in accordance with rules and regulations governing the source," a senior official said.
