Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day Gujarat visit, launched various SAUNI projects and inaugurated Guru Gobind Singh Hospital at Jamnagar on Monday. Addressing a gathering during the launch event, the prime minister said he ended the ‘Tanker Raj’ in Gujarat and solved water shortage issue in the state which, he said is prone to drought.

"For many years, there was an issue of water shortage in Gujarat. This state has been drought prone. I was certain that I can’t allow 'Tanker Raj' to carry on in Gujarat. We worked to improve water scarcity, particularly in the areas where water shortage was more,” the prime minister during the rally.

Modi said that whenever there was any problem, a determination to solve that problem was also there. He said that despite negligence by the previous governments, the Sardar Sarovar Dam project was completed which brought much-needed relief to the people of the state.
