Prime Minster Narendra Modi on Monday greeted people on the eve of Eid al-Adha. He said that the festival will further strengthen the bond of peace and happiness in the society.

Eid al-Adha, also called festival of sacrifice, is being celebrated on Monday. 

The prime minister wrote on Twitter. "My best wishes on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. I hope it furthers the spirit of peace and happiness in our society. Eid Mubarak!"

The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind also tweeted and said: “Eid Mubarak to all fellow citizens, especially to our Muslim brothers & sisters in India and abroad.

Idu'I Zuha symbolizes love, fraternity and service to humanity. Let us commit ourselves to these universal values that represent our composite culture #PresidentKovind”
