Prime Minister Narendra Modi flew in a seaplane from the Sabarmati River to Dharoi Dam in Mehsana district and then travelled by road to Banaskantha district to offer prayers at the famous Ambaji Temple on Tuesday, the last day of campaigning for the Gujarat Assembly polls.
Modi boarded the single-engine seaplane from near the Sardar Bridge connecting the old city with Ahmedabad West, the first-ever flight by such a craft in the country, to Dharoi Dam in north Gujarat.
A special jetty was constructed to facilitate the prime minister's boarding from the river. From Dharoi Dam, he reached the temple by road after covering a distance of around 50 km.
Earlier today, I travelled on a sea plane from Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati River to Dharoi Dam, taking off and landing on water. This experience was unique. It adds strength to our resolve to harness waterways for India’s progress. pic.twitter.com/mkosy9OteJ
