Eid Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, is being celebrated with religious fervour in various parts of the country on Sunday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings on Milad-un-Nabi. He tweeted, "Inspired by the thoughts of Prophet Muhammad, may this day further the spirit of harmony and compassion in society. President Ram Nath Kovind tweeted in English, Hindi and Urdu extending his best wishes.

Milad processions are being organised to mark the occasion. In Delhi, the main procession will be taken out in walled city, which will culminate at Jama Masjid after passing through the traditional route. The festivities are expected to be subdued in view of the tight security arrangements after Ayodhya case verdict.
