A Jammu and Kashmir Police constable, who was abducted by militants from his home in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian on Thursday, is found dead in early Friday morning. Police recovered his bullet-ridden body in Shopian's Dangam.

Constable Javed Ahmad Dar, posted as the personal security officer to Senior Superintendent of Police Shailendra Mishra, was kidnapped from his home at Vehil last night. A group of unidentified gunmen came in a car and abducted Ahmad while he was on his way to a nearby medical shop.

Following this incident, the security forces launched a massive search operation to locate the constable. The area had been cordoned off by Government forces and all the senior officers reached the spot to rescue Ahmad and nab the assailants.

The wreath laying ceremony of Ahmad took place in Kulgam's Pariwan on Friday morning.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident on Friday, an imam of Hanfia mosque got injured after terrorists fired upon him in Pulwama's Parigam village in the early morning hours. The imam, Mohd Ashraf Thoker, was rushed to the hospital with multiple bullet injuries.

Earlier in June, Aurangzeb, an army soldier from Jammu and Kashmir was abducted by terrorists from Pulwama when he was on his way to home in Rajouri for Eid celebrations. Later, his bullet-ridden body was recovered from Gussoo village in Kalampora area of Pulwama district.

In April, the security forces had killed five terrorists in an encounter in the Kachdoora area of Vehil, the residence of martyred constable Javed Ahmed.
