Speech will be forgotten, visuals will remain: Daughter Sharmistha to Pranab Mukherjee on RSS visit

Pranab Mukherjee to address RSS cadre in Nagpur today, his daughter reminds him of repercussions

As former president Pranab Mukherjee is set to address Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) cadre on Thursday at its headquarter in Nagpur, his daughter Sharmistha warned him of repercussions of attending the event.

Sharmistha took to Twitter to warn her father that by attending the RSS event, he will give a full handle to the BJP/RSS to plant false propaganda.

"Hope @CitiznMukherjee now realises from today’s incident, how BJP dirty tricks department operates. Even RSS wouldn’t believe that you are going to endorse its views in your speech. But the speech will be forgotten, visuals will remain and those will be circulated with fake statements," Sharmistha tweeted.

"By going to Nagpur, your are giving BJP/RSS full handle to plant false stories, spread falls rumours as today and making it somewhat believable. And this is just the beginning!" she added in another tweet.

The remarks of Sharmistha, who is also the president of Delhi Mahila Congress, were in response to the rumours that she might join the BJP and fight elections from West Bengal on the saffron party's ticket.

However, the reports were rubbished by Sharmistha and said she will rather quit politics than leave the Congress.

"In the mountains enjoying a beautiful sunset and suddenly this news that I’m supposedly joining BJP hits like a torpedo! Can’t there be some peace and sanity in this world? I joined politics because I believe in Congress. I would rather quit politics than leaving the Congress," she tweeted.

Earlier, a group of RSS workers, who were seen handing bouquets, welcomed the former president soon after he landed in Nagpur. He is set to deliver the valedictory address to around 800 RSS workers attending the final year of ‘Sangh Shiksha Varg’ training course.

The RSS cadre whom the former president will address will become full-time ‘pracharaks’ who would then carry forward the Sangh’s agenda for the rest of their lives.
