New Delhi:

Former president Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday broke his silence on accepting an invitation to attend an event of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) - a Hindutva organisation, of which, he has been a staunch critic throughout his political career - at its Nagpur headquarters on June 7.

Speaking to a Bengali newspaper, Mukherjee, who was one of the biggest Congress leaders of post-Indira Gandhi era before being the president of India, said that whatever he has to say, he will say that in Nagpur.

"Whatever I have to say, I will say in Nagpur. I have received several letters, requests and phone calls, but I haven't responded to anyone yet," the former president was quoted as saying by the Anandabazar Patrika.

On June 7, Mukherjee is set to deliver the valedictory address to around 800 RSS workers attending the final year of ‘Sangh Shiksha Varg’ training course.

The people whom the former president is expected to address will become full-time ‘pracharaks’ who would then carry forward the Sangh’s agenda for the rest of their lives.
