President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended Holi greeting to the people, saying the festival symbolises the spirit of tolerance, harmony and prosperity.

In his ‘Holi’ message, the President said the festival symbolises the vibrant colours of “our diverse multi-cultural society and the spirit of tolerance and harmony that has been the essence of our culture and civilisation.

“May this unique festival of colours be a joyous expression of the spirit of pluralism. May it strengthen the fraternal bonds amongst our citizens,” he said.

Ansari said the festival marks the onset of warmer season and victory of good over evil.

“I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to the people of our country on the auspicious occasion of Holi the festival of colours.

“Celebrated with traditional fervor and enthusiasm throughout the country, Holi marks the onset of warmer season and victory of good over evil. May this festival bring peace, harmony, prosperity and happiness in our lives,” he said.

The Prime Minister in his message said, “My best wishes to all on Holi. Happy Holi to all of you!”.
