UPA's candidate Meira Kumar thanked all 17 opposition parties, saying that she is grateful to these parties which have shown their faith in her. She said the unity of the opposition parties is based on a common ideology.
Kumar said she will accept the ideology of social justice, freedom of the press, freedom of speech, end of poverty and transparency.
Two days ago, she has written a letter to all electors requesting them to extend their support. She said she will start her campaign from Sabarmati.
Replying on JDU's support, she said such things happen in politics and she will decide what to do at the right time.
While replying to a question raised by NewsNation over ‘caste’ face in the Presidential poll, Meira Kumar said that the caste factor should be tied up in a bag and bury in deep earth.

Replying to Dalit violence in Uttar Pradesh, she said is shameful for everyone and being a Dalit, it is not only her responsibility to stop such heinous crime, but the entire society must come forward to fight for the cause.
