Prisoners of Kolkata’s Presidency Correctional Home attacked West Bengal police personnel and tried to torch the jail campus while they were shifted to another jail on Wednesday.
Police said, around 11-under trial prisoners, who were being shifted from Presidency Correctional Home to Hoogly Correctional Home, attacked the police personnel on duty in the jail campus.
“In the attack few police personnel were injured,” said a jail official.
The prisoners after attacking the cops also tried to set the jail campus on fire. “A portion of jail gate was torched the prisoner,” added the officier.
