Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has ended her dharna after meeting family members victims of Sonbhadra killings on Saturday at Chunar fort in Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh. “My objective has been served as I have met them (victim of Sonbhadra firing). I am still under detention, let's see what the administration says,” the Congress leader said.

Meanwhile, the Congress has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the victims, who were gunned down earlier this week in Sonbhadra district during clashes over land dispute.

Over 10 members of the affected families met the Congress general secretary at the guesthouse, senior party leader Ajay Rai said.

However, Priyanka Gandhi alleged that all the members of the victim's family were not allowed to meet her.

“Two relatives of victims have come here to meet me, 15 others are not being allowed to meet me. Even I am not being allowed to meet them”, said Priyanka Gandhi Vadra after meeting the families of the victims.

The meeting was highly emotional as the family members of the victim who sobbed bitterly while narrating the sequence of events. The Congress leader could not hold back her tears as she hugged them and assured them of all support and help.

According to reports, she now plans to leave Mirzapur and travel to Varanasi from where she will fly back to Delhi.

Earlier, Priyanka asked if it was a crime to wipe the tears of the families of victims of the Sonebhadra carnage.

"Is it a crime to wipe the tears of these people?" Priyanka tweeted attaching a video of the weeping kin of victims of the Sonebhadra carnage.

The Sonebhadra incident saw 10 people killed in a shootout over a land dispute in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. While the main accused and 29 others have been arrested, a Sub-Divisional Magistrate and four other officials have been suspended.
