New Delhi:

The students of Jawaharlal Nehru University, led by the JNU Students' Union, blocked the entrances of the administrative block on Wednesday afternoon alleging that the administration has acted in insensitive manner regarding missing first year MSc student Najeeb Ahmed.

“We have been confined in a wrong manner. We have made all possible endeavors in searching the missing student Najeeb,” said Vice Chancellor Jagdish Kumar. However, the president of JNU student council Mohit Pandey has denied the reports of VC being confined. “We have not confined anybody. Instead, we have sent foods for them,” he added.

Meanwhile Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday spoke to Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Kumar Verma on JNU missing Student case.

Earlier, due to violence at Mahi-Mandvi hostel on October 14, JNU administration summoned 12 students to depose before the proctorial committee.

Najeeb Ahmad, pursuing MSc in Biotechnology from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student and an AISA activist had gone missing under mysterious circumstances, police said on Sunday.

Najeeb Ahmad, was a resident of room 106 of Mahi/Mandavi hostel, has been missing since Sunday allegedly after an altercation with a few students on Saturday night, they added.

A case under section 365 (kidnapping with intent secretly and wrong fully to confine person) of IPC has been registered at the Vasant Kunj North police station on the basis of a complaint by his parents, police said.

An AISA activist said Najeeb, who joined the hostel a fortnight ago, had an altercation with some ABVP activists on Saturday night when they were holding a door-to-door campaign at the hostel for the mess committee election.
