PS Narasimha resigns as Additional Solicitor General

PS Narasimha, Additional Solicitor General, has tendered his resignation citing personal reasons. He has asked the government to relieve him of his responsibilities from December 15 when the Supreme Court goes for a winter break.

Sources told news agency PTI that Narasimha decided to resign after he had recently lost his father. He often has to go to Hyderabad to tend to his ailing mother.

On July 12, Sandeep Sethi stepped down as additional solicitor general. In February, Sethi, along with Senior Advocates Aman Lekhi and Vikramjit Banerjee, were confirmed for appointment as ASGs for the Supreme Court.

The strength of the additional solicitors general has decreased to just six from from 11 during the UPA-II rule.
