Pulwama blast: Jaish-e-Mohammed takes responsibility of attack

Jaish-e-Mohammed has claimed the responsibility for IED blast in Pulwama, Jammu & Kashmir which claimed lives of 42 CRPF personnel. The death count is expected to rise. According to reports, a blast ripped through the buses jawans were travelling in.

The vehicles were blown up on the Srinagar-Jammu highway in Awantipora area of the district, a police official said. Around 12 personnel were also injured in the IED blast, which reduced a bus to a mangled heap of iron. Following the blast, gunshots and grenade blasts were also heard.

According to reports, two buses in the CRPF convoy were targeted in the high-intensity IED blast. Pakistan backed Jaish-e-Mohammed claims responsibility for Pulwama IED terror attack, in a text message to Kashmiri News Agency GNS, claims reports. 

According to reports, Aadil Ahmad was the terrorist who carried out the blast. 

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister has spoken to DG of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and has called an urgent meeting in Delhi. 

Reports suggest that there were nearly 70 vehicles in the convoy in which around 2500 personnel were traveling. "Senior officers at the spot, the investigation is underway. Injured being taken care of. There were 2500 personnel in the convoy," CRPF DG RR Bhatnagar said.

"J&K Police has taken up the investigation. The injured shifted to hospital. Post-blast analysis being done at the spot," Zulfiqar Hassan, IG CRPF(Operations), said.
