According to sources in the Army, this incident dates back to 2015 and only escalated in May this this year after the NGO approached the Army. An enquiry was ordered then and the matter is still in progress.

Pune ACP Kalyanrao Vidhate said that the incident took place between January and June 2015. The victim and the accused used to work in night shifts at the same organisation. Since she was speech impaired, the accused took advantage of her condition and raped her. She then told about the incident to her colleague, who also sexually assaulted her. Later, two other men also did the same thing.
