Four Indian Army personnel posted at Khadki Military Hospital in Pune were booked on Wednesday for molesting and raping a speech-impaired woman on the hospital premises, reported news agency ANI. The woman filed complaint in Indore with the help of an NGO and a letter regarding this was sent to the Defence Minister and the Army Chief.
According to sources in the Army, this incident dates back to 2015 and only escalated in May this this year after the NGO approached the Army. An enquiry was ordered then and the matter is still in progress.
Pune ACP Kalyanrao Vidhate said that the incident took place between January and June 2015. The victim and the accused used to work in night shifts at the same organisation. Since she was speech impaired, the accused took advantage of her condition and raped her. She then told about the incident to her colleague, who also sexually assaulted her. Later, two other men also did the same thing.
