The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday upheld Constitutional validity of the Haryana Backward Classes Act 2016. According to the court, the Jat reservation will continue in the state.
"Punjab and Haryana High Court directed state government to place before Backward Class Commission data collected by it or commission will collect data on basis of which percentage to which extent reservation is to be granted to be determined, said AAG Haryana Lokesh Singhal.
The AAG said that Commission will decide issue by March 31, 2018. He added that reservation granted to caste mentioned in Class-III to remain in abeyance till then.
The verdict on Haryana Backward Classes Act 2016 affects the provision of reservation to the members of the Jat, Jat Sikh, Muslim-Jat, Bishnoi, Ror and Tyagi communities.
