The Punjab Police on Wednesday appointed senior IPS officer R N Dhoke as additional director general of police (ADGP), coordination with headquarters in New Delhi.
According to official statement, the decision was taken to ensure better coordination between Punjab Police and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), other central police organisations and departments.
Along with new appointment, Dhoke will also holds the post of additional director general of police, security, in Chandigarh with immediate effect, it said.

The order was issued by Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Home Affairs and Justice, Punjab, Nirmaljeet Singh Kalsi.
Before his appointment as ADGP for security, Punjab, Dhoke served as Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana. A 1993 batch IPS officer, Dhoke took several welfare measures for the police force, including meditation classes, job satisfaction survey among the police women and others.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government also has transferred one IAS and eight PCS officers with immediate effect.
