The Border Security Force handed over mortal remains of two Pakistani infiltrators to Pakistan Rangers on Thursday.
Both the infiltrators were killed in Punjab's Ajnala sector on Wednesday.
“The BSF conducted a joint operation with the Narcotics Control Bureau in Shahpur in Amritsar sector after they witnessed a movement of the smugglers on Wednesday morning,” BSF IG Mukul Goyal said.
The smugglers started firing when they were stopped by the Indian soldiers. In retaliatory firing, two smugglers were killed, he said.
Four kg heroin worth Rs 20 crore in the international market along with arms and ammunition was seized by the BSF along the India-Pakistan border.
An Ak-47 rifle, a pistol, two magazine, a Pakistani sim card, a mobile phone, Pakistani currency worth Rs 20,330 and 32 grams drug were seized in the operation, the officer said.
