The Border Security Force on Wednesday killed two Pakistani smugglers when they tried to enter the Indian territory, and seized heroin worth Rs 20 crore, an official said.
“The BSF conducted a joint operation with the Narcotics Control Bureau in Shahpur in Amritsar sector after they witnessed a movement of the smugglers this morning,” BSF IG Mukul Goyal said.
The smugglers started firing when they were stopped by the Indian soldiers. In retaliatory firing, two smugglers were killed, he said.
Four kg heroin worth Rs 20 crore in the international market along with arms and ammunition was seized by the BSF along the India-Pakistan border.
An Ak-47 rifle, a pistol, two magazine, a Pak sim card, a mobile phone, Pak currency worth Rs 20,330 and 32 grams drug were seized in the operation, the officer said.
The search operation is underway, he said.
