Delhi's deputy chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia urged the people of Punjab to cast their vote assuming that AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal is their chief ministerial candidate.

"Ye samajh ke vote do ki aap Arvind Kejriwal ko vote de rahe ho. Aapka vote Kejriwal ke naam pe hai (cast your vote as if you are voting for Arvind Kejriwal. Your vote should be in the name of Kejriwal)," Sisodia said while addressing a rally in Mohali in the poll-bound state.

Sisodia's statement is being seen as a major hint that the party could feild Kejriwal as its chief ministerial candidate in the upcoming assembly election.

The statement drew sharp response from the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).

"By asking people to vote for Kejriwal as Punjab CM, Manish Sisodia has exposed their plan that proves that the party doesn't trust Punjabis, news agency ANI quoted SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal as saying.
