Post Congress' historical win in Punjab, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Congress leader Amarinder Singh.
PM Modi made a call to convey his wishes to the Congress leader, who happens to be the CM candidate in the Punjab Assembly elections 2017.
"Spoke to @capt_amarinder & congratulated him on the win in Punjab," Modi tweeted on micro-blogging site Twitter.
Modi's congratulatory tweet came after Congress was heading towards forming a government in Punjab after a 10-year hiatus. Congress has thrashed ruling Akali Dal-BJP alliance in the assembly elections.

Interestingly, Amrinder Singh's victory in the assembly elections came as a double bonanza for him given that the senior leader is also celebrating his 75th birthday today.

Modi also wished Amarinder on his birthday saying, "Also wished him (Amarinder) a happy birthday & prayed for his long & healthy life."
Overwhelmed with PM's wishes, Singh thanked Modi for his good wishes and stated that he is looking forward to work for the betterment of the state.
Amarinder wrote, "Thankyou Modi ji for your good wishes. I look forward to working with you for the betterment of Punjab."

Amongst 117 assembly seats at 54 centres in 27 locations of Punjab, Congress is leading with 75 seats.
