Punjab rape case: Cops arrest second accused

The Muktsar Police has made second arrest in connection with the abduction and rape of a Dalit girl, which took place on March 25.

The second accused - Sandeep Sipa – participated as the driver of cab during abduction. The cops have also taken the car under their custody. Prime accused Gurinder had surrendered on Saturday.

A shocking CCTV footage had emerged showing a woman being dragged out of her office by a man in broad daylight in a street in Punjab’s Muktsar area. The 24-year-old shouts for help as she tries to break free but no one comes for help. The incident took place on March 25. The woman was then kidnapped and raped at a farmhouse and was released the next day, she told police.

Following a complaint, the Malaut Police had on March 30 booked the accused, and was on look out for him, who was allegedly absconding. Gurinder, 27, a resident of Kandu Khera village, reportedly abducted the victim, a resident of the same village, from outside a computer centre in Malaut, where she was an employee. He took her to Tapa Khera village and allegedly raped her.
