Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Punjab Affairs co-in-charge, Raghav Chadha accused Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi of deliberately not arresting Bikram Singh Majithia. Addressing the media in a press conference on Tuesday, Chadha said that Bikram Majithia himself has told that both Chief Minister Channi and Dy CM and Home Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa knew his whereabouts, but he was not arrested intentionally.
Chadda said that we had informed the media beforehand that Channi government would file a very weak case against Majithia and when he would be arrested, Congress government will help him to get an easy bail. Majithia's words proved our allegation correct. Chadha said that Chief Minister Channi's brother was saved by Sukhbir Badal in the Ludhiana City Center scam, and now Channi has saved Sukhbir Badal's brother-in-law Bikram Singh Majithia as to return his favour. Channi government had registered a case against Majithia to anlu delude the people of Punjab that they’re taking an action against drug mafia when they had done nothing for their whole tenure.
Chadha alleged that Channi government deliberately did not arrest Majithia for 22 days after the FIR was registered. He was not arrested even after the court rejected his anticipatory bail plea, because the government did not want to arrest Majithia. The police were clearly told not to take any action. It was just an election stunt of Congress and Channi.
Chadha said that the Channi government proved to be a very weak and unsatble government. During his tenure of 111 days, Channi goverment changed DGPs and AGs three times and transferred SP and SSP dozens of times. Illegal drug trafficking did not stop in Punjab even for 11 days during 111 days tenure of Chief Minister Channi. He said that by filing a case against Majithia, the purpose of Congress government was not to end drug smuggling in Punjab, but only to take electoral advantage.
